RYLEE REALLY RILES FOR UNDER9’S BLUES

Cougars Under 9’s Blues produced an excellent team performance against a strong LAFA Whites outfit at the Bury. Cougars started brightly and Oscar Kay, patrolling midfield like a young Eric Dier, got on the scoresheet early.  A few minutes later Myles Woodford unleashed a rocket to the top corner but it was brilliantly saved by the opposition’s goalkeeper, however Cougars were not to be denied and Rylee Kitteringham using his goalscorers instinct added a second.  Just before the break a cleverly worked short corner between Kitteringham and Adam Sleath led to a second notch for Kitteringham.

After the break LAFA got one back straight away, however this was the last time Cougars defence was breached as Lui LoConte produced some brave and impressive saves, whilst ahead of him man mountain Fraser Finlay, well supported by Bear Wennington and Finlay Wood, were not letting anyone through them. Cougars continued to press with efforts by Kay, Ben Lewis and Wennington going close before Kay finished off a man of the match display with his second.

Both teams played the game in a great spirit and were a credit to their clubs.  The sides finished off the match by taking part in a penalty shootout and cross bar challenge.  Special mentions to Lui LoConte and Oscar Kay who hit the cross bar, whilst a search party is still out looking for the two coaches’ efforts.
