SLEATH NOTCHES FOR COUGARS UNDER9’S BLUES

Cougars Under 9’s Blues travelled to Stevenage and took on FC LAFA Blues in a highly competitive match. Despite going behind to an early goal the front line of Rylee Kitteringham and Myles Woodford, supported by Oscar Kay’s dynamic bursts from midfield, caused a lot of problems for LAFA’s defence.  Cougars opened their account when Kitteringham fired an Exocet into the top corner, and moments later the visitors were only denied by the cross bar. Cougars managed to take the lead after some neat build up play led to Adam Sleath opening his Blue’s account for the season with a cool finish.

After the break the action was end to end but it was LAFA who levelled the game up.  The game was in the balance but thanks to some breath-taking saves by Lui LoConte and excellent defending by Finlay Wood, Bear Wennington and Ben Lewis the Cougars held firm. With time running down some mesmerising footwork by Myles allowed him to dance through and slot home.  Coach Richard Kay maintained his 100% record with all kids and parents very grateful for him stepping in to support the team.
