RUBI HAS A GEM OF A GAME FOR COUGARS UNDER8s

A fine display and a much welcomed victory for Cougars Under8s Stripes as they hosted Morden Magpies at The Bury.  Cougars’ passing was thoughtful, mostly accurate and unhurried.  It was a lesson in patience too as the opposition had much of the possession but when the opportunity arose Buntingford were able to take their two chances.  A brace from Rubi Pryke were impressive, one from a surging run, in off the upright and the other from a close range toe poke after a goalmouth scramble.

Jack and Johnny Nicholas shared goalkeeping and midfield duties,  swapping seamlessly at the break.  Both boys were as solid between the sticks as they were determined in the centre of the action.  Tasha McNamara who played in attack tried hard to get involved but became a little isolated at times and it was a shame she did not get more through balls to feed off.  Kyson Man on the right wing was most impressive in not only his tackling but also his darting runs up and down that flank.

A happy Cougars fan commented afterwards “All in all there was much to be proud of today.  Let’s hope this is the first of many more performances of this ilk.”
