Cougars Under 15’s County Champions

St. Albans City North 0 : Buntingford Cougars Blues 3

Once again Cougars have proved they are the best team at u15’s in the county, just like they did last year at under 14’s. In a game that saw Cougars defend for the first 25 mins against a St. Albans team that were very well organised, technically better and played some great football. The only thing they lacked was the final ball and finishing. Against the run of play, Cougars cleared their lines and the ball fell to Charlie Owen, who’s slide rule pass found Louie Debnam and with our first attack slotted past the keeper with 35 mins gone.

This set the pattern of play and with Cougars getting more into the game the second goal arrived 10 mins into the second half. A corner was won by Connor Bridge, who was outstanding in the game and Charlie Rome delivered a perfect cross for Louie Debnam to header home Cougars and his second.

St. Albans never gave up and Owen Sallows had to be on his toes to make an unbelievable save to keep the score at two nil. With St. Albans pushing on, gaps were appearing and Cougars grabbed their third. The St. Albans keeper and defender made a mess with the clearance and were out muscled and Louie Debnam got his third with a 20 yard thunder bolt.

“A well deserved victory, because you have to take chances when they arrive. Anybody that gets a hatrick in a final should be man of the match but defenders Connor, Harry, Ben, Jack and Owen were brilliant. I would like to thank everybody involved, especially the Mums as it was Mother’s Day” said Shaun Debnam, under 15’s Team Manager.
