Jumping Jack Hits Tremendous Trio for Cougars Tens

Buntingford Cougars U10’s Blues 3  Stotfold Juniors U10’s Golds 3

Buntingford’s U10’s Blues played out a stunning match against Stotfold on Sunday that ended in a fair high scoring draw. The early exchanges were even but saw two very different styles of football as the visitors from Bedfordshire played a stylish possession game whereas Cougars equally impressive style was all about getting the ball quickly up front to utilise their pacey strikers George Godfrey and Jack Gurney.

After a couple of half chances at both ends which were dealt with well by goalkeepers or missed the target it was the home side that struck the first blow after eight minutes. After a Stotfold attack was broken down by Cougars Brogan Fakhfakh he was able to find Nathan Anderson who in turn fed Gurney. The strikers’ pace and change of direction beat Stotfold’s last defender and the Blues prolific hit man slotted confidently past the approaching guardian.

The deficit appeared to galvanise the visitors and Stotfold piled on the pressure on the Cougars penalty area and were duly rewarded before half time with two goals to give them the lead going into the half time break.

The second half played out similar to the first in terms of possession and style and saw Stotfold add a third goal. With Cougars now two down and the match in its final ten minutes the hosts stepped up a gear and it was the ever reliable Gurney who pulled one back with five minutes remaining and then he sent the home side cheering as he equalised with almost the last kick of the game.

After the match Cougars Coach Darryl Dean said “Congratulations to Jack today with a hat trick but I was so impressed with the whole team effort, the entire squad worked so hard against some really impressive opposition. At the end of the day three each was a fair result in an exciting match for both sides.”
