Cougars Under13’s Blues went top of the table with a see saw performance at Baldock on Sunday. Buntingford went two up after fifteen minutes thanks to a Charlie Fountain brace before Nathan Anderson, Fountain, Jack Lally, Josh Ridings and Sam Daly went close including four efforts hitting the woodwork.
Before half time the home side got back into the game with a penalty and a shot to draw level before then going ahead early in the second half. With Cougars shocked the away side stepped up a gear and despite a missed penalty and hitting the woodwork three times again managed to score a further three goals courtesy of close range efforts from Jimmy Brown and Ridings and a fifth goal from Fountain to make the final score seven goals to answer Baldock’s four.
Manager Richard Daly said afterwards: “It was an entertaining if nail-biting game although I never felt we would get less than three points. We are top of the table now so it will be interesting to see how our lads cope with teams who will be highly motivated to beat us.”
