Cougars Under 9’s Blues welcomed Melbourn Dynamo Panthers to the Bury in a rematch of the draw they had fought out before Christmas. Cougars started slowly and but for two fine saves by Lui LoConte would have gone behind. However Cougars started shifting through the gears and a sublime ball from Dan Fone found Oscar Kay who opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Chances then came a plenty with Kay going close and Ben Lewis rattling the cross bar. However Lewis was not to be denied and yet another peach of a ball from Fone allowed him to smash home. Cougars had now reached top gear and Myles Woolford with quick feet went close before Kay went on another mesmerising run before hitting the post. Kay then turned provider and sent a beautiful ball through to Woolford who stroked home to make it 3-0. To round off an almost perfect half Kay unselfishly passed to George, on debut from the Stripes, who calmly finished in the corner.
The second half didn’t reach the levels of the first but still saw Kay hit the post again. No more goals in the second half meant an impressive clean sheet for the Blues with defensive trio of Finley Wood, Fraser Findlay and Adam Sleath holding firm with Lui LoConte having a fine game in goal. This week’s man of the match went to Finley Wood who put in a highly impressive tackling display, but a special thanks to George for helping out the Blues and doing everything that Coach Fone asked of him.
