Little Ted Stars for Under7s Stripes

A last minute illness for the Stripes U7s saw a bare five players take on a strong Letchworth team. There were notable tackles from Lucas Hardy and Ted Doncaster in what was a real test in defending for Cougars. Lucas Crook now replacing Ryan Gull between the sticks made several good saves. In the second half Doncaster looked up and found Gull in space down the right hand side and with an accurate pass led to one of the few Cougars attacks in the game. The Gull brothers, never known to shirk a tackle, were kept busy. Antony Gull tried to release the pressure with solo runs into the Letchworth half whilst at the other end Doncaster stopped a certain goal scoring opportunity by chasing his opponent half the length of the pitch and making a great tackle preventing a shot on goal. Lucas Hardy kept trying right to the end of the match to close the Letchworth side down and give his opponents little time on the ball. The stripes should be proud of their efforts, they kept going right to the end. Despite facing a strong Letchworth the last effort was indicative of the Stripes’ ‘never give up’ attitude. Ryan Gull restarted play from the centre circle, passed to his brother with Anthony slotting in a goal with the last kick of the game.

This weeks Player of the week award went to Ted Doncaster, for making a number of good tackles, never giving up and meeting his given task to make 3 good passes in the game to teammates who were in space in good positions.
