COVID-19: Return to Football 29th March & Updated Club Risk Assessment

As part of the next stage of the Government’s roadmap out of national lockdown, outdoor sports facilities can open, and organised outdoor sport can again take place. Buntingford Cougars are very pleased to be able to return to training and matches following our enforced break through lockdown from Monday 29th March. As a club we must continue to follow all FA and government protocols; it is critical that we return safely and continue to follow the guidelines and restrictions in place.

Our updated COVID Risk Assessment is attached: BCYFC COVID-19 Risk Assessment Mar21

Full FA guidance can be found here but key points are noted below: https://www.thefa.com/about-football-association/covid-19

Travel: As organised sport can resume, all participants may travel to games but should avoid travel at the busiest times and routes, as well as minimising any unnecessary journeys where possible

Changing Rooms: Changing rooms cannot be used as part of step one in the roadmap out of lockdown and must remain shut.

Spectators: No spectators are allowed at grassroots football as part of step one of the Government’s roadmap, except for safeguarding purposes which should be limited to one parent or carer per child; we understand there will be some circumstances where siblings will also need to accompany the parent.

Safeguarding and First Aid: The club have updated their risk assessment and this can be found on our website. All coaches have access to a COVID kit. All involved in the club (players, parents, coaches, helpers) must work together to manage social distancing, strict hand hygiene, etc. For those attending matches, the rule of 6 will apply and must be adhered to. Squad Coordinators need to continue to maintain an attendance register for each training session and match to support NHS Test and Trace.

COVID-19 Self-Assessment / Check: Prior to any training session or match, participants shall perform a COVID-19 Self-Assessment/Check. If a participant has any symptoms or fail any of the checks below then they MUST NOT attend.

Note, we expect FA Guidance to change regularly as we move through the different steps of the Government’s roadmap.

So, please enjoy our return to football but support us in making it as safe as possible.

Many thanks,

Buntingford Cougars Committee
